I haven't posted anything in a very long time -- RL has been a bit demanding this year. In the past few weeks, though, I started playing around with my watercolors. I find the idea of watercolor painting very appealing, but to be honest, actually *doing* it scares the crap out of me. It's a very unforgiving medium. Once the paint is on the paper there's not a whole heck of a lot you can do to change it. It can be nerve-wracking. So this one is something of an exercise, trying to get over that. No blood, though. I just couldn't bring myself to bloody him up. Maybe at some point . . . Starsky, from Bloodbath.

Happy Birthday, Duluth! I hope it's great!

Fun find in a vintage store the other day . . .

I tried it on, of course. It was in great shape and very cozy (it had a quilted lining), but it was a men's XL and the armholes were halfway to my waist, so, sadly, it did not come home with me. But fun to see hanging on a rack. :)

For duluth

because she puts up with a lot from me, and humors my Starsky obsession even though she feels so strongly about Hutch and his thundering oaken . . . yeah, well, even I will admit that they're pretty damn magnificent here:

In defense of Starsky's legs

-pleasingly graceful and stylish in appearance or manner

     - having many curves and turns
     - lithe and supple

*    *    *    *    *

So the other day, elsewhere on LJ, I happened to opine that Starsky had 'elegant and sinuous legs,' and got no end of grief from a few good friends, who suggested, among other things, that perhaps I was blinded by my passion for the man.

Okay, I admit that I am taken with the boy, but it's a state to which I am accustomed and I know that it's not clouding my generally excellent taste and judgment. :)     I just think that, objectively, and when confronted with reality, no one can really complain about the man's lower extremities.

So -- I can't believe I'm doing this -- in rebuttal, I give you Starsky's (and PMG's) legs:

    VD3c      terri2       RM1c

I stand by "elegant and sinuous."   And long.  No, not as long as Hutch's, but long enough:

They're sexy.   They do it for me, but if they’re not your cup of tea, that’s okay.  We each have our own ideals when it comes to beauty.  What’s lovely about this show and this fandom is that we have two exceptionally beautiful men whose looks complement each other, and that makes for lots and lots of eye candy (for those rare moments when we're not totally absorbed by the storyline, acting, or social commentary).

So if you're not smitten by Starsky’s legs, no prob –
you’ll undoubtedly be a fan of Hutch’s:

boysc                  or of Starsky's amazing
                                                     inky black lashes,

or of Hutch’s neck and the way
the hair thereabouts curls
up with humidity or sweat,

neck       or of Starsky’s chest PMGchest

or – well, of any of their other fine physical assets.

And the beauty of it all is that you don't have to choose --
you can have whatever grabs your fancy!

If you had to pick . . .

Posted on 2014.04.26 at 18:35
Okay, here's the deal: your sister, who has for several years known about your obsession with interest in S & H, has good-naturedly agreed to watch an episode of the show. She will not become a fan of the show, and it's highly unlikely that she will ever see a second episode. What episode would you have her watch? I think it should be one that's well-written and which shows her S&H at their best. Two other conditions: it probably should not be one of the sillier ones, and it can't have any serious medical stuff going on it -- she's in medicine, and she would not be able to suspend her disbelief watching, say, "A Coffin for Starsky" (which I would typically go to, as it is my all-time favorite).

So, if you could pick just one episode to show someone what S&H means to you, what would it be? I would really appreciate any suggestions you have. Thanks!
